Slowing down time: finding balance through music, nature and simple pleasures

Mid-June already… and that lingering feeling that time is slipping away too fast.

So I’m learning, gently, to slow down. To return to what truly matters. To choose, instead of simply following the flow.

For a long time, daily constraints felt like an endless loop. Now, they’ve moved into the background. They’re still there—but they no longer dictate the rhythm of my days.

Today, I choose to devote my energy to what truly nourishes my balance.

Music has naturally found its way back into my life. Piano, drums, cello… each one a language of its own, allowing emotions to flow where words fall short.

In the garden, a few flowers, herbs, and tomato plants grow quietly. Every day, they offer a simple, living, soothing spectacle. A gentle reminder of the beauty of slow time.

Sewing has also entered my life, almost effortlessly. Like cooking or baking, it grounds me in the present moment. Creating something with my own hands, watching it come to life… it brings a deep and intimate satisfaction.

With time, I’ve come to realize how fortunate I am to have moments just for myself. My stepchildren have grown up. And while I often think of mothers still caught in the whirlwind of mental load, I now savor these lighter moments, these chosen times together as a family.

Finally, I’ve just published the story of my first encounter with Jamie.
