Epicurean Lifestyle, Food Sovereignty & French Gastronomy: A Reflection on Freedom

I consider myself a true epicurean. I enjoy exploring and sharing life’s pleasures—both sensual and culinary. The pleasures of the flesh and the pleasures of fine food are deeply connected, shaping my balance and worldview.

 

In a previous editorial, I shared my dream of building a passive wooden house, as self-sufficient as possible, surrounded by nature. More than just a home, it represents my ultimate vision of freedom.

To me, freedom is rooted in sovereignty. Personal sovereignty first—over energy, food, and daily life—but also collective sovereignty. The sovereignty of a country, a culture, and a heritage.

 

I am fortunate to live in a country globally recognized for its exceptional gastronomy.

Behind Michelin-starred chefs lies a rich network of passionate producers and outstanding terroirs. Yet, driven by short-term financial interests, some decisions risk weakening this balance and threatening our food sovereignty.

 

Supporting local agriculture, protecting our land, and preserving our traditions is not only about economics or culture—it is about freedom.

 

After all, isn’t it reflected in our national motto?

Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
